“Aetherversary” Festival will Feature Speed Run and Trivia Tournaments,
Fan Fiction and Feedback Contests with Cash Prizes
Schell Games, a leading game development studio specializing in virtual reality, entertainment, and educational experiences, today announced the “Aetherversary” Festival, a two-plus week virtual event beginning on October 27th that celebrates the one-year anniversary of the release of its award-winning VR sword fighting game Until You Fall.
The festival, named after Aether (a magical substance found in the game’s mythical land of Rokar), is open to all members of the Until You Fall Discord community (including members under 18 with parent/guardian approval) and begins on October 27th with the start of a three-tier speedrun tournament pitting the game community’s best warriors against one another.
From October 27th through November 16th, the Aetherversary Festival will feature:
- Champion Tournament: Qualifiers will be divided into their Factions, which then compete in the semifinals amongst themselves to send one Champion to the Finals, all the while using Faction weapons in Nightmare mode. The tournament will culminate in a Finals Watch Party on November 16th
- Rokari History Fan Fiction Contest: Creators are challenged to dream up unique lore within the world of Until You Fall, prophesying potential future directions, retelling their in-game journeys, and expanding the history of Rokar. A professional voice actor will be hired to record/read the winning story at the Champion Tournament Finals Watch Party
- Rune Knight Trivia: Community members will be tested on their understanding of Rokar, the Unraveled, and the impressive armory in the Runeforge in a live-streamed event prior to the Champion Tournament Finals Watch Party
- For Rokar Feedback Survey: In a contest of participation and luck, participants will fill out a survey about their experience with the game, the Discord, and various related topics in order to earn an entry. Random entries will be selected to receive prizes throughout the duration of the Festival, including one Grand Prize winner announced during the Champion Tournament Watch Party
Each competition features a $500 grand prize as well as a host of swag bundles and exclusive Discord roles in celebration of the game, which debuted in October 2020 and has garnered a host of industry awards and nominations from organizations such as PlayStation VR, Dreamhack, AIXR, and GDEX.
